چکیده
It was with interest that I read the article by Zhu et al., especially the part concerning the inherent variation of optical density across the film which the author concluded is likely due to a nonuniform dispersion of the radiochromic sensitive dye rather than an artifact of the scanning technique. I agree with the author on this point as we had performed the same examinations. However, we must have received ‘‘a good batch’’ as the variations seen across all our films, performing the same experiments where less than 1% in one direction and less than 2.5% in the other direction with a single irradiation technique. We received two packets of the new MD55/2 Gafchromic film with batch No. 941206. All ten sheets were tested with a 1.5 cm strip taken from each sheet in both directions. Examples are shown in Figs. 1 and 2 after 40 Gy applied dose. The results shown were measured on a Scanditronix RFA300 densitometer, converted to read in the visible region with a wavelength of 760 nm610 nm. Results are converted to a percentage dose normalized to 100% at the

Skin Dosimetry in Radiotherapy of Breast Cancer: a Comparison between EBT and EBT3 Radiochromic Films
Objective: Radiochromic EBT3 film is a later generation of radiochromic films. The aim of this study is to compare EBT and EBT3 radiochromic films in radiotherapy fields of breast cancer. Methods: A RANDO phantom was irradiated by a 6 MV Siemens Primus linac with medial and lateral fields of radiotherapy of breast cancer. Dosimetry was performed in various points in the fields using EBT and EBT3...

UNLABELLED BACKGROUND.: The aim of this study is to evaluate the performance of a color scanner as a radiochromic film reader in two dimensional dosimetry around a high dose rate brachytherapy source. MATERIALS AND METHODS A Microtek ScanMaker 1000XL film scanner was utilized for the measurement of dose distribution around a high dose rate GZP6 (60)Co brachytherapy source with GafChromic® EBT...
متن کاملIs It Possible to Publish a Calibration Function for Radiochromic Film?
PURPOSE To assess the possibility of using a public calibration function for radiochromic film dosimetry in dose QA of highly conformal treatment plans. METHODS EBT3 film calibration strips (3.5 × 20 cm2 from lots A101212 and A011713) were exposed on a Varian Trilogy at a facility to a 10 × 10 cm2 open field at doses of 80, 160, 320 cGy using 6MV photons. Together with a strip of unexposed fi...
متن کاملLinearization of dose-response curve of the radiochromic film dosimetry system.
PURPOSE Despite numerous advantages of radiochromic film dosimeter (high spatial resolution, near tissue equivalence, low energy dependence) to measure a relative dose distribution with film, one needs to first measure an absolute dose (following previously established reference dosimetry protocol) and then convert measured absolute dose values into relative doses. In this work, we present resu...
